A Downing Street COVID briefing was held at 16:00 hours on 13 September.

The meeting was chaired the UK’s Chief Medical offer, Professor Chris Whitty.

The UK’s 4 chief medical officers were present at the briefing and agreed that children of those ages should receive one dosage of the Pfizer vaccine to help prevent disruption in their education.

Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi has announced government approval of the recommendation

Following the COVID briefing, on 13 September the Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi announced in the House of Commons that the government has approved a recommendation by UK medical officers to offer a vaccine to 12-15 year olds.
